Serious flooding in the southern downtown core

The southern part of Ward 20 - particularly CityPlace, SouthCore and along the Waterfront - has experienced serious flooding overnight as the result of heavy rainfall. My office is in touch with Toronto Water, 311 and the Office of Emergency Management about a coordinated response.

Transportation staff are clearing catch basins and monitoring flood-susceptible areas. Residents can also help by removing any debris they notice blocking a catch basin so that water can continue to drain.

All residents are advised to continue to call in service requests via 311. This will allow the wider response to be managed effectively and the City can track service requests to identify problem areas. Always call 911 for emergencies.

Given the scale of the rainfall we've experienced, residents should expect a long than normal wait time to be connected to 311. Staff are working hard to respond to issues as they arise and reports to 311 help with them that coordination effort, so your patience is appreciated.

Please don't hesitate to contact our office at councillor_cressy@toronto.ca if we can be of assistance.
