Letter to Prime Minister Trudeau - Encouraging evidence-based drug policy

As the Chair of the Toronto Drug Strategy Implementation Panel, I recently sent a letter to Prime Minister Trudeau encouraging a return to evidence-based drug policy.  The Toronto Drug Strategy provides a comprehensive approach to alcohol and other drugs based on the four integrated components of prevention, harm reduction, treatment and enforcement used in many other countries around the world.

Over the last decade, the federal government instituted many regressive measures related to drug policy (among other things).  In the early days of the new administration, it is important to inform the Prime Minister of our approach, and to encourage evidence-based decision making and a comprehensive approach to drug policy based on the four integrated components that focus on health, safety, and collaboration in our communities.
