Toronto Swimming Beaches Update
Five swimming beaches will open for the season on Saturday, June 1, with lifeguard supervision of swim zones only. These zones will be marked with flags at each location:
· Centre Island
· Kew Balmy
· Scarborough Bluffs
As lake levels reach their highest recorded level, Toronto's waterfront beaches are experiencing significant impacts. The official opening of many swimming beaches has been delayed due to flooding, ponding and erosion conditions that reduce the beach area.
Beach users should watch for signs and barriers that prohibit access to areas of the waterfront where there is flooding, as well as to exercise caution around shorelines, as conditions can change rapidly. Please keep children and pets away from slippery and unstable banks.
City staff are actively monitoring conditions and will open swimming beaches when conditions improve and it is safe to do so. Updates and information about Toronto's beaches is available at toronto.ca/beaches.
