Yonge Street Mission Public Consultations

In the fall of 2017, the Yonge Street Mission's (YSM) Evergreen Centre for Street Youth will be relocating to 365/367 Spadina Avenue. Over the last few months, YSM and I have engaged in multiple stakeholder meetings with residents, business owners, and other community groups to proactively hear and address any potential concerns that may arise.

YSM provides essential services to a vulnerable population of street youth and I am committed to working with them, and the local community, to ensure a successful transition to their new neighbourhood. Their day programs, including health and employment services, are critically needed in the downtown core. For more information, please see my earlier statement on YSM here.

This month, I am also hosting two public consultations to continue the ongoing dialogue regarding the Yonge Street Mission's relocation. This will be an opportunity to hear directly from YSM, as well as to have your questions answered the organization, City Staff, and Toronto Police Services.

There are two meetings scheduled (the same information will be presented and both):

Tuesday, January 12th (with Mandarin and Cantonese interpretation)

6-8pm

University Settlement (23 Grange Rd)

and

Thursday, January 21st

6-8pm

United Steelworker's Hall (25 Cecil St)

For more information on these events, please see my letter to the community here.

I look forward to seeing you at one of the public consultations.
