Regarding Kensington Market Fire

Dear Neighbour:

This morning at approximately 6:15am, Toronto Fire Services responded to a two-alarm fire in a three-storey semi-detached building at 39 Kensington Avenue between Fitzroy Terrace and Kensington Place.

Two residents have been taken to the hospital to be treated for minor smoke inhalation. One firefighter has also been treated and released for minor smoke inhalation.

Police are currently seeking the owner of the building and the Fire Marshal has been contacted to begin an investigation into the cause of the fire.

I want to extend my sincere thanks to Toronto Fire Services for their hard work this morning to keep everyone safe. Early detection and response are key in these situations and firefighters worked extremely effectively to keep the fire contained to a single building.

Please contact my office if you have any questions.

Take care,
