Shortlist Announced for Quayside Project Development Partner
Quayside is a central project in Waterfront Toronto’s mission to revitalize and reclaim our city’s waterfront. Since day one, our objective with Quayside has been to develop a new model for how we can build a 21st century neighbourhood – one that is truly affordable, liveable, and sustainable.
Over the past year, Waterfront Toronto asked the public to weigh in on the renewed goals for the project, which are Inclusive, Resilient, Dynamic. The feedback provided in this process underlined the need for ambitious planning to build a neighbourhood that serves everyone, while addressing the urban challenges of housing affordability, active transportation, and climate change. This vision informed a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a development partner with the necessary experience, design portfolio, financial resources, and shared vision to bring Quayside to reality.
Waterfront Toronto has announced the four shortlisted proponent teams from the RFQ. The teams will be invited to submit their detailed plans through a Request for Proposals (RFP), to be issued later this summer. A development partner is expected to be in place by the beginning of 2022.
Quayside represents the next important step towards waterfront revitalization. As City Councillor for the Quayside area, and the Mayor's Designate on the Waterfront Toronto Board of Directors, I am committed to continuing the critical work of engagement with the waterfront communities, stakeholders, and broader public to achieve our collective vision for Quayside.
