Subway Vent Shaft Cleaning on Spadina at Lowther

Maintenance work will be carried out to clear sand, leaves and other organic residue accumulated at the bottom of the subway vent shaft on Spadina Road at Lowther Avenue.

Scheduled Date: Saturday, July 22, 2017

The TTC will use a high-pressure water system and a high-pressure vacuum system to carry out this work. This method of removing the residue is efficient and quick. Noise will be evident when work is in full operation.

The truck will be parked on Spadina Road near the metal grate of the vent shaft. The water and vacuum hoses will be lowered from the truck at street level into the vent shaft through an access opening in the metal grate.

The crew will be onsite at 7 a.m. for set-up. The maintenance work will begin at approximately 7:30 a.m. and completed by approximately 1 p.m.

Traffic on Spadina Road will be maintained in both directions through the work zone. Some street parking may be affected, as well as some turning restrictions at the Spadina/Lowther intersection.
